Minimum Flight Requirements:

Instrument Rating

  Many Insurance Companies and Employers, such as EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and Offshore Oil Transport Operators require an Instrument Rating.
  Eligibility Requirements:
 
  • Hold at least a Private Helicopter Certificate
  • Pass the Airman's Knowledge Test
  • Pass the Oral and Practical Test
  Minimum Flight Experience:
 
  1. Have 50 hours of X-C PIC
  2. 40 hours of simulated or actual instrument flight
    • 15 hours w/ authorized instructor who holds
      instrument-helicopter rating
    • 100nm X-C in Helicopter
    • 3 hours in Helicopter in Preparation for the Test
